My Mother's Sugar Cookie Recipe
|
This is the recipe for my Mother's sugar cookies. I had considered sharing this sugar cookie recipe with the world for quite some time. But because of other obligations I hadn't taken the time. However when I found the domain name WorldClassCookies.com available I knew it was finally time that the world experience this soft sugar cookie that I loved so very much as a child!
Sugar Cream Cookies
2 cups light brown sugar
1 cup butter
3 eggs
1 cup sweet cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Cream together the butter and sugar until light and then add the eggs stirring well, then the cream and vanilla. Last add the dry ingredients which have been sifted together several times. Mix well, chill, roll (use very little flour ), cut and bake at 375 until a light brown.
Please note that the above directions are as my Mother wrote them down about 60 years ago. I remember helping her make sugar cookies as a young boy (mid 1950's). After chilling I would cut them with the various cookie cutters we had. However as the cookie dough warmed it became to sticky to cut. If this becomes a problem you can use a spoon to drop the dough on a cookie sheet.
